Software licensing can be a particularly tough issue, with many software vendors adding levels of complexity that often make little sense. At GLOBAL MICRO, we work with you to remove the complication. We conduct a full PC and server count, an audit of all your existing software, and an estimation of software you’d need in the future. We then create, architect and provide you with a simple solution for all your licensing requirements. You’ll never have to worry about whether you’re on the right side of software license laws, and you’ll never have to deal with a Software Asset Management (SAM) audit.
the what
One of most unique licensing offerings is that of our Application Service Provider (ASP) model. By working with us under ASP, you can lease your software on a monthly basis. You avoid any start-up investment and you can change license volumes in response to your varying business demands.
The ASP model also eliminates often-costly upgrade fees -- you will always have the most current (as well as all previous) versions of the relevant software.
Rather than purchase software via the traditional method of outright purchase, licensing services provides for the rental of software on a monthly basis.
Benefits at a glance:
- Most Current Product Versions: Gain access to the most current versions of the products available in the program for one simple monthly price.
- Flexible Cost Structure via a monthly usage-based cost. Therefore you pay only for what was used the month.
- Cash Flow Management: Near zero start-up costs.
Focus on your core operations and most importantly on growing your business. We will provide regular software audits will provide visibility and management of all software licensing requirements.
the how
Via licensing services, a customer chooses to let an Application Service Provider (‘ASP’) acquire the necessary software licenses through various Service Provider License Agreements. The ASP then becomes the licensee of the software and will 'on-rent' it to the customer. Products in this program are licensed and priced on a monthly basis and are available through two models:
Per User / Device (Subscriber Access License)
A SAL is required for each unique individual or each unique device authorized to use the software in any given month. This is a very popular model because licensing can often be managed simply by electing to use a SAL for each member of staff independent of the number of servers or branches a business may have. Benefits of the per subscriber model include:
- Subscribers can access any number of servers from any number of devices, and
- Subscribers can "scale out" by deploying as many servers as they need
Per Processor (PL License)
A Processor Licence allows an unlimited number of end users to use software running on a single processor for each Processor License. PL licenses are easy to monitor and count, which lowers administrative costs for web service applications, intranets, extranets or line of business application servers accessed by a large number of users.
